TURTLE CAKE | |
1 German chocolate cake mix 1 can evaporated milk 3/4 c. butter, softened 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped pecans Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 13"x9" pan. Mix cake mix with 2/3 cup evaporated milk and 3/4 cup soft butter. Spread 1/2 of this mixture in a greased and floured 13"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. While crust is baking, melt the 14 ounce package of caramels with 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in top of double boiler. Pour caramel mixture on top of hot cake crust. Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped pecans over the caramel mixture. Pour remaining cake mixture on top. Return to oven and finish baking 18 to 20 minutes. Cake may be frosted with any chocolate cake frosting desired. |
