125 YEAR OLD BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE | |
1/2 c. Crisco 1/2 lb. butter 5 eggs 3 c. plain flour 3 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. black walnut flavoring 1 c. evaporated milk 1 c. chopped black walnuts If you use cake flour, use 2 tablespoons more per cup. Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add flavoring and beat well. Mix 1/4 cup of flour with nuts. Sift remaining flour with baking powder and add alternately with milk, starting and ending with flour. Fold in floured nuts. DO NOT BEAT. Bake in greased and floured tube cake pan for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until done, at 325 degrees. Top with Seven Minute Frosting, if desired. |
