1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Put all in bowl. Pour hot water over shortening. Beat well. Put in 8-inch greased pan. Bake 30 minutes in oven at 350 degrees for metal pan or 325 degrees for glass baking dish.
