FROSTED ORANGE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 whole orange, ground

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately to creamed mixture with a mixture of the buttermilk and ground orange, mixing well after each addition. Drop batter from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes at 375 degrees. Yields: 5 dozen.

FROSTING:

Beat enough powdered sugar into mixture of 3 tablespoons softened butter and 2 tablespoons orange juice until of spreading consistency.
