CHOCONUT CARAMEL BARS 
2 c. Nestles milk chocolate morsels
2 tbsp. shortening
14 oz. pkg. caramels
5 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. water
1 c. coarsely chopped peanuts

Melt over hot (not boiling) water the chocolate morsels and shortening. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat, pour 1/2 of mixture into an 8 inch foil-lined pan; spread evenly. Refrigerate until firm, return remaining chocolate to low heat. Combine over boiling water, caramels, butter and water. Stir until caramels melt and mixture is smooth. Stir in nuts and pour into chocolate lined pan. Refrigerate 15 minutes. Top with remaining chocolate. Chill 1 hour. 2 1/2 dozen.
