BUTTERSCOTCH REFRIGERATOR
COOKIES
 
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream the shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt. Mix well. Stir in nuts. Shape into 2 rolls and wrap in wax paper. Chill 3 hours or overnight in refrigerator. Slice 1/8 inch slices. Place on cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes in 350 degree oven.
