CREAM SCONES 
1 c. sour mil
6 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. melted butter

In a large bowl combine 1 cup sour milk, 6 tablespoons sugar and 1 egg, beaten. Sift into the mixture 4 cups of sifted flour, 2 heaping teaspoons cream of tartar and 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda. Beat the mixture well and gradually add 1/2 cup melted butter. Turn the dough out onto a floured board, and roll it out 1/4 inch thick.

Cut the dough into rounds and cut the rounds into 8 pie shaped wedges. Dust the wedges with flour and cook the scones on a hot griddle for 10-15 minutes. Turning once or until both sides are golden. Don't let the griddle get too hot. Toothpick check.
