CRISP OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
3/4 c. finely crushed nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together, shortening and sugars and vanilla. Add beaten egg next. Add dry ingredients and chill for 1 hour. Make walnut-sized balls and press with the bottom of a glass that has been coated with butter and dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 10 minutes.
