4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Sift together. Set aside. Beat together until light and fluffy:

1 c. shortening
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

1 c. flaked coconut

Add dry ingredients alternately with:

1/3 c. milk

Mix well. Chill dough thoroughly. (IMPORTANT). roll out 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut into rectangles, 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. Place on greased cookie sheet. Press in one direction floured fork tines to give washboard effect. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 to 12 minutes.
