BLACK WALNUT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
3 egg yolks, beaten
3 tsp. baking powder
2 c. plain flour
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. black walnuts
1/2 tsp. salt
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Combine butter and sugar. Beat until smooth. Add beaten egg yolks and mix well. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk. Add vanilla and walnuts and mix well. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in greased tube pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. This cake is better if stored a week before cutting.
