THUMBPRINT COOKIES 
2 c. butter (softened)
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
6 eggs (divided)
1 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour
2 c. finely chopped walnuts
Fruit preserves

Cream butter and sugar. Mix in egg yolks, vanilla and salt. Add flour and mix well. Form dough into one inch balls. Roll dough in slightly beaten egg whites and roll in nuts. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheets. Press down center of dough with thumb and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Fill center with preserves before serving.
