CRANBERRY COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar (granulated)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. cream (can use whole milk)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3+ c. flour
1 can cranberry sauce

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and cream. Beat for 2 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together. Add and mix well until dough is only slightly sticky. Chill dough at least 3 hours, covered. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch - cut with donut cutter.

Place 1 teaspoon cranberry sauce in center. Cut out second cookie with center hole removed to show cranberry sauce. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes (or until lightly tan). Can use heart shaped cookie cutter for Valentine's Day.
