HAMBURGER VEGETABLE SOUP 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
2 (1 lb.) cans whole tomatoes
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 pkg. dry onion soup
4 c. water
1/3 c. barley, washed and drained
1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
1/4 lb. fresh green beans (cut up)
4 green onions
1 tbsp. dry parsley
1 med. potato, diced
1 stalk celery, diced
1/4 head sm. cabbage, sliced
1 sm. turnip, diced
8 mushrooms, sliced
1 sm. green or yellow squash, sliced
2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. season salt

Brown beef; drain. Return to pot. Use Dutch oven or a large soup pot. Add all other ingredients sprinkling with the sugar and season salt. Bring to a boil and then simmer over very low fire at least one hour, stirring occasionally until potato is soft.
