SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
1 c. icing sugar (powdered - confectioners')
4 c. flour
3 tbsp. cornstarch

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl cream butter and gradually add sifted icing sugar. Sift flour and cornstarch together then add gradually to butter mixture forming a dough.

On a floured surface roll out dough and cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Decorate as desired (sprinkles, colored sugar, etc.). Place on cookie sheet and bake 20 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool on rack.
