TOMATO BREAD OR BUNS 
1 pkg. yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. warm water

Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and let rise for about 5 minutes in warm place.

2 lb. sifted flour
2 oz. shortening or vegetable oil
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. fresh tomato juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk (optional)

Mix flour, shortening, salt, tomato juice and well-beaten egg yolk and yeast mixture together. Knead lightly and shape as required. Place in greased pans and leave to rise again until size is doubled. Bake in oven about 375 degrees for 20 to 45 minutes.
