DO-AHEAD LASAGNA | |
1 lb. ground beef 1 can (16 oz.) tomatoes, cut up and drained 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves 1/2 tsp. pepper 8 oz. lasagna noodles 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, sliced 12 oz. sm. curd cottage cheese (1 1/2 c.) 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese Brown beef in skillet; drain fat. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper and oregano into beef. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes. Cook lasagna noodles as directed on package; drain well. Alternate layers of noodles, Mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, meat mixture and Parmesan cheese in 11x7x1 or 9x9x2 pan. Cover and refrigerate. When needed bake uncovered at 350 degrees until hot and bubbly, about 40 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting and serving. Or - it also can be baked for 30 minutes after assembling. |
