This is a terrific recipe. Made for a party where the guest of honor was visiting from Italy. He said it was as good as any he's had from "home."

I cannot find a recipe for Easter bread. It was made by an old italian family many years ago. It had a yeast bread base and poured into a pie pan, filled with provolone, swiss cheeses, pepperoni and chunks of ham. It was so good and could be eaten warm or cold. I have been looking for this recipe for over 35 years. Could you possibly help me. I know when the little italian ladies got together they seemed to make enough for the entire town and sold it at the local pubs in the Navarre, Ohio area.

Hi Marilyn,

Here's the recipe my mom gave me for Pizzagaina. I continue the tradition by making it myself during the holidays. I hope this is the recipe you've been looking for!

I am a vegetarian and recently at a party that raved over these. Wondering if I could make a vegetarian version with spinach, roasted red peppers, cheese, and eggs. Pretty much substitute spinach for the meat and keep everything the same. I will try it but wondering if anyone else has.
