GRANDMOTHER'S 3 STEP HEAVENLY
HASH
 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. oil
1 c. water
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 c. sour milk and 1 tbsp. vinegar and enough milk to make 1/2 cup
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

STEP 1: Combine 2 cups sugar and 2 cups flour. STEP 2: Heat 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup oil, 1 cup water and 4 tablespoons cocoa. Pour over Step 1. STEP 3: Combine 1/2 cup sour milk, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add to Step 2 and mix until blended. Bake cake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes in a 9 x 13 inch prepared pan.

ICING:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. nuts, if desired
Powdered sugar
Small marshmallows

Melt 1 stick butter and add 4 tablespoons cocoa, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 4 tablespoons milk, and powdered sugar to consistency to spread. Add 1/2 cup nuts if desired. Put a generous amount of small marshmallows on top of the cake while it is still hot. Ice cake while still warm.
