OATMEAL COOKIES 
9 tbsp. butter or Crisco melted at low heat
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. allspice
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. quick oats (oatmeal)
1/2 c. raisins and nuts

Mix wet ingredients first, beating well; then add dry ingredients; shape into balls and flatten slightly. Bake at 375 degrees until golden. Double recipe for more cookies.
