JAM CAKE 
6 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. jam (blackberry)
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. nuts

Cream butter, sugar and jam then add eggs one at a time. Sift spices with flour. Add soda in buttermilk. Gradually add flour and buttermilk alternately beginning and ending with flour. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes or until done. Frost with caramel icing.

CARAMEL ICING:

1 1/3 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. corn syrup
1/3 c. milk
1/4 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. hot milk

Boil together brown sugar, corn syrup and 1/3 cup milk until it forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water. Mix together powdered sugar, Crisco and hot milk. Then heat all together until right consistency to spread.
