APPLE CAKE | |
4 c. diced apples 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 c. flour 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 c. nuts, chopped Mix sugar and apples together and let stand, stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves. Add eggs and beat well. Add dry ingredients and nuts; mix well. Bake in a large, deep, greased 9"x13" pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees, until cake is done (may need to bake a little longer). Remove from oven and pour hot sauce over hot cake. SAUCE: 1 c. brown sugar 2 c. water 1 c. white sugar 5 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. butter 1 tsp. vanilla Stir sugars and flour together in a saucepan. Add water and cook until clear, about five minutes. Add butter and vanilla. Mix and pour over cake. FROSTING: 3 oz. pkg. cream cheese 2 c. powdered sugar 1/2 c. butter 2 tsp. vanilla Beat all together. Ro Jensen, Creighton |
