CHILI PIE 
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 oz. chorizo
1 - 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Topping:

3/4 cup milk
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. cornmeal
1 egg
1 tbsp. melted butter
tomato wedges for garnish

Melt butter in a skillet or deep pie pan (ovenproof). Sauté onion until soft, stir in garlic, saut 1 minute. Remove casing from sausage. Cook sausage and break apart meat as it cooks. Drain grease. Stir in chili powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Add ground beef, brown until done (drain if greasy), stir in tomato sauce, bring mixture to a simmer. Remove from heat. Transfer into baking dish and cover with cheese, let melt. Preheat oven to 425F.

Topping: Combine milk, flour, cornmeal, egg and oil. Beat with mixer or egg beater. Pour mixture over hamburger mix.

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Garnish with tomato wedges if desired. Serve hot.
