Cream 1 cup sugar; add 1 cup butter. Beat in 1 beaten egg. Sift 3 cups flour with pinch of soda and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg; mix well and turn on floured board. Roll 1/8" thick. Cut cookies and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Press chopped nuts on top and bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
