SUGAR COOKIES 
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. lemon extract
Pinch salt
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Cream together shortening and sugar and butter. Add buttermilk or sour milk, eggs and lemon extract. Mix separately together dry ingredients. Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Dough should roll well.

Note: Before you blend in dry ingredients put aside a little flour and add it later so that you get the right consistency for the cookie dough to roll well. Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. (Before baking you may sprinkle a little sugar on top of cookie and place a raisin in the middle - or ice and decorate as you choose.)
