1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. ice water
1/2 c. powdered non dairy cream
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

Combine powdered non dairy cream, sugars, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt and spices. Sprinkle half of this mixture over pastry. Cut butter into remaining half until crumbly.

Arrange apple slices, overlapping them in circles on crust. Sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm. Makes 12 servings.
