CHEESECAKE SQUARES 
1 c. walnut pieces
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter flavor Crisco or 1 stick butter
1/2 c. coconut (optional)

FILLING:

2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1 can cherries

Take a cup of nuts, save 1/2 cup very coarsely chopped for top, other 1/2 cup chop fine for crust.

CRUST: Mix flour and brown sugar, mix in butter until crumbly, add 1/2 cup fine nuts mix. Press in bottom of 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until edges are brown.

Beat cream cheese filling mixture until smooth, spread over hot crust. Bake 15 minutes.

Spread cherries over cheese layer carefully, sprinkle with coarse chopped nuts. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool 2 hours then refrigerate until chilled. Crust taste better at room temperature.
