LEMON BREAD 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour (sifted)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Add dry ingredients, mix. Add milk. Don't worry if it seems a bit lumpy. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour in greased loaf pan.

ICING:

Approximately 1/2 c. sugar
Juice and grated peel of one lemon

Mix sugar, lemon juice, and peel. Spoon over HOT bread, left in pan. Let stand in pan until cold. Can substitute reconstituted lemon juice for fresh. Easy to double.
