2 sticks butter
1 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour plus 2 tbsp.
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil butter and water; add to sugar and flour and baking soda. In a small bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, salt, and vanilla. Add this to the flour mixture and beat. Put on greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
5 tbsp. milk

Heat to boiling. Add 1 pound powdered sugar and 1 cup walnuts. Spread on warm cake.
