1 c. milk
2 cans tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 lb. American cheese, grated or diced
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. salt
6 slices day old bread

Mix together the milk, eggs, tomato sauce, salt and pepper. In a greased 9" square pan, arrange alternate layers of bread slices, cheese and the sauce mixture. Set the pan in another pan of hot water. Bake in a slow oven, 325 degrees for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serves 6.
