BABOTI 
2 slices bread
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. butter
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar or lemon juice
2 lb. ground beef or lamb
2-3 eggs
Salt & pepper to taste
2 med. onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp. curry powder
Optional:
1 tbsp. apricot jam or 12 sm. chopped dry apricots
12 almonds (or other nuts), finely chopped
1/2 red, yellow or green pepper, chopped or 1/2 c. raisins
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp. Turmeric

Soak bread in milk. Lightly fry chopped onions with curry powder in 1 teaspoon butter. Then add sugar, vinegar (or lemon juice). Squeeze milk out of bread and add the bread and the remaining teaspoon of butter. Add the meat, 1 egg and desired amounts of salt and pepper. Add any desired optional ingredients. Butter a pan or dish and place mixture in it, shaping as desired.

Beat up the 1-2 remaining eggs with the milk from the bread and pour over the meat mixture. Bake until top is set, 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Serve hot or cold with vegetables or salad.
