CANDY CANE TWISTS 
3/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. peppermint extract
1 2/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. oats
1 tsp. red food coloring

Beat shortening and sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and extract; blend well. Add flour and salt to mix. Stir in oats. Add coloring to 1/2 dough. Chill and divide into 30 equal parts. Form into canes and bake on ungreased sheets at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
