SURPRISE MERINGUES 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. sugar granulated
1 pkg. semi sweet chocolate bits
1/4 c. chopped nuts

Beat egg whites, salt, vanilla and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Add sugar gradually, continue beating until peaks are stiff. Fold in chocolate bits and nuts. Drop by teaspoons into a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes.
