NAVAHO FRYBREADS (NAVAHO
INDIANS)
 
3 tbsp. shortening
3 3/4 c. flour
1 c. yellow cornmeal
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. water
Chili with beans
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Cheese
Onions

Cut shortening into combined ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk and water. Knead dough on lightly floured surface 5 times. Roll out and cut into 5-inch squares. Fry in 1-inch hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Top with desired vegetables and serve!
