CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter (1/2 lb.)
3 c. sugar
3 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1/2 c. vegetable shortening (use only Crisco)
5 eggs
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond if you desire

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat and cream until well blended; add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift and measure cake flour, sift together the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add this, alternating with the milk, to the mixture until blended. Add flavoring.

Bake in tube or pound cake pan at 325 degrees for about 1 hour and 25 minutes.

ICING:

1/2 box confectioners' sugar
2 or 3 tsp. condensed milk or can cream
1/2 bar German chocolate
1/2 stick butter

Melt butter and chocolate; add milk and add sugar. Beat until smooth. Cover top and side.
