CABBAGE & TOMATO SOUP 
3 lb. cabbage, shredded
1 lg. can tomatoes, solid pack
1 1/2 lb. beef (chuck steak)
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar

Cover cabbage with water. Add salt and soak for 1/2 hour. Drain water off cabbage. Again cover with water. Add salt, sugar, sliced onion and meat. Simmer for 1 hour. Add tomatoes and simmer for 1/2 hour longer. Cut meat in small pieces and serve with soup. Serves 6.
