GRANDMA'S MILE - HIGH BISCUITS | |
2 c. sifted flour 1 tbsp. sugar 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1 beaten egg 2/3 c. milk Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture all at once. Stir until dough follows fork around bowl. Turn out on lightly floured surface. Knead 20 strokes. Roll dough to 1 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-14 minutes. Makes about 1 dozen large biscuits. |
