BANANA/OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/8 c. shortening
1 1/2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
2 5/8 c. oats
12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine flour, sugar, soda, salt and spices. Cut in shortening. Mix in egg and bananas. Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes (until bottoms of cookies are golden brown). Cool on a rack. VARIATION: use raisins instead of chips or half of each.
