CHRISTMAS COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 pt. sour cream

FILLING:

1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. nuts (pecans)
6 tbsp. butter, softened

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla; add eggs 1 at a time, beating each one for 1 minute. Sift together flour, baking powder and soda. Add to cream mixture, alternating with sour cream. Spread half of mixture in a greased tube pan. Cream butter, brown sugar and cinnamon; add nuts. Glob 3/4 of filling in center portion of cake mixture in pan. Careful not to touch sides of pan. Put rest of batter on top and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. (When cooled, put remaining filling on top and put under broiler for a few minutes and watch carefully.)
