PECAN-RAISIN-SPICE CAKE 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
3/4 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugar; mix flour and other dry ingredients, add to butter-sugar mixture along with buttermilk. Add raisins and pecans; mix. Pour into 9 x 13 inch cake pan. Bake 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees. After the cake is done, while still warm, poke holes in the cake with a toothpick and pour on warm Buttermilk Sauce.

BUTTERMILK SAUCE:

1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. white syrup

Cook in a saucepan for 2 minutes and pour over the warm cake.
