CHARLENE'S SOFT PRETZELS 
Mix in large bowl:

1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 pkg. dry yeast

Add:

4 1/2 c. flour

Mix dough until it is worked into a large ball. Divide this ball in half and shape into a rectangle. Work dough between palms until it is about 12 to 15 inches long. Then dip into this mixture:

Boil in glass bowl:

1 qt. water
1 tbsp. lye SLOWLY added to water

Then shape and place on buttered cookie sheet, and sprinkle with salt and bake. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
