MASTACCIOLI (ITALIAN DISH) | |
1/2 lb. Italian sausage 1/2 c. onion 16 oz. can tomatoes 6 oz. can tomato paste 1 1/2 c. cottage cheese 1 tsp. marjoram 1/4 tsp. pepper 8 oz. cooked mostoccioli or rigatoni 1/4 tsp. pepper 3 c. (12 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese 1/3 c. water 1 tsp. oregano 1/4 c. grated Parmesan Brown meat; add onion. Drain. Stir in tomato paste, tomatoes, water and seasonings. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Mix cottage cheese and marjoram. Layer 1/2 noodles, 1/2 sauce and 1/2 mozzarella. Spread with all of cottage cheese. Repeat layers. Top with Parmesan. Bake 350 degrees about 30 minutes. |
