PERSIMMON COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. persimmon pulp
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins

Cream sugar, shortening, and egg; mix dry ingredients, except soda. Add to shortening mixture and mix well. Stir in persimmon pulp, baking soda, nuts, and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen.
