CHOCOLATE CAKE PIE 
1 deep dish pie crust
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. cocoa
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/3 c. pecans, chopped
1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
Whipped non-dairy topping, thawed
Chocolate syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together 1/2 cup sugar, cocoa, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and the nuts. Set aside. Mix together butter and remaining sugar until blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture along with milk. Spread chocolate mixture into bottom of pie shell. Spread batter over chocolate. Bake on a preheated cookie sheet until toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 40 to 45 minutes. Cool completely. Serve with whipped topping and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Serves 8.
