BACON-WRAPPED WATER CHESTNUTS 
8 oz. can whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. soy or teriyaki sauce
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 lb. thick-sliced bacon

Combine chestnuts with soy sauce and sugar; marinate 30 minutes. Cut bacon slices into thirds; in microwave long enough to get rid of some of the grease, but still pliable. Wrap each piece around a chestnut and secure with a toothpick. Arrange pieces in shallow pan; bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until bacon is done. Drain off grease; dip appetizers in barbecue sauce (optional). Place in 250 degree oven for an hour.

BARBECUE SAUCE:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. catsup
1 tbsp. vinegar
2 to 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

Combine; bring to boil, stirring; remove from heat; use.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
