Cucumbers with skin 3 med. onions 4 c. sugar 4 c. vinegar 1/4 c. salt 1 1/3 tsp. turmeric 1 1/3 tsp. mustard seed 1 1/3 tsp. celery seed Mix sugar, vinegar, and salt. Put turmeric, mustard seed, and celery seed in a cheese cloth bag. Bring to boil and cool. Slice onions in bottom of 1 gallon jar. Add sliced cucumbers. Pack real solid because they shrink. Pour on liquid and refrigerate 5 days or longer. They get better with age. Must be kept in the refrigerator. |
