ORANGE CHARLOTTE CAKE 
1 3/4 c. flour, sifted
3 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening, softened
3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. orange juice
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
1 tsp. grated orange peel

Sift together in a large mixing bowl: Flour (sifted), baking powder, sugar, soda, and salt. Add and beat 2 minutes at medium speed: Softened shortening, milk, orange juice, egg yolks, and grated orange peel. Beat 2 minutes longer. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans. Bake 35 minutes at 375 degrees.

ROYAL ORANGE FILLING:

In a saucepan, mix: 1/2 c. sugar

Blend in 1 cup drained crushed pineapple and 2 oranges (peeled and chopped). Cook until clear and thick (about 10 minutes.

Add: 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1 tbsp. grated orange peel

Cool and spread on top and bottom layers.
