BAKED BEANS FOR FIFTY | |
4 qt. navy beans, washed 7 qt. water 4 tbsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 2 c. molasses 2 c. brown sugar 1 lb. salt pork, cut up OR bacon (can fry bacon before adding to beans) 4 lg. onions, sliced or diced Pick over beans and wash well. Place in large pan covered with water. Soak overnight. Simmer in same water until skins pierce easily. Do not boil! Add rest of ingredients and bake at 250 for 4 to 5 hours. Add little more water if needed. |
