FRUIT SQUARES 
2/3 c. warm milk
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cake yeast
1 c. butter (butter or lard)
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
3 beaten egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
Fruit filling, poppy seed or cheese

Mix milk, sugar and yeast. Let sit to start to work. Mix butter, salt and flour. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Add yeast mixture and blend well. Divide dough in half, roll one piece at a time to fit 12x18 pan. Spread filling over this and top second piece of dough on top. Let rise for 45 minutes and bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. This can be frosted with a white icing (optional) or sprinkled with powdered sugar.
