MICROWAVE BAKED APPLES
2 lg. baking apples
2 tsp. soft butter
4 tsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Handful raisins
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. honey

Core apples, split skin around middle of each apple. Place apples in microwave dish. Melt butter in small bowl on maximum power for 12 seconds. Stir in sugar, cinnamon and raisins. Fill each apple with mixture, add water to dish. Cook, covered with plastic wrap on High for 4 to 5 minutes. Add honey and serve.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

How powerful is the microwave (which in 4-5 min on high would cook an apple)?
Mine is 750W, for example. I'm trying to work out how long will mine take for this recipe.
Thanks!

Delicious

Gizmo: You had this at your mother-in-law's when you were a kid? Meaning your wife's mother prepared these apples for you when you were a child? Meaning you were MARRIED as a child, and your wife's mother took care of you? Ha, just saying. Probably misuse of the term.

Careful on the timing - ultimately my microwave only required something like 3 minutes to completely cook a medium-large Golden Delicious... and on my first attempt where I was following the recipe, I returned after four minutes to find the sugar/butter mixture had completely melted through the plastic wrap where it had contact... adding an unwelcome surprise ingredient to the mix and landing the entire thing in the garbage. The do-over was delicious.

Hi Katie,

Everyone's microwave is different, so its a good idea to watch what you're cooking!
