BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. cucumbers
6 med. onions
1/3 c. canning salt
3 c. white vinegar
3 c. water
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. mustard seed

Wash and slice cucumbers. Cut onions into quarters. Pack 3 pieces into each pint of cucumbers. Boil all other ingredients together. Pour over cucumbers in jars. Adjust lids. Process in boiling water bath: 10 minutes for pints and 15 minutes for quarts. Makes 8 pints. Allow to sit for 2 weeks.
